I am in a similar situation as John is. Currently, i'm using an ISDN router with a single line to connect my two home computers to the internet, and was wondering if it would be possible to migrate to a cable modem using Linux for NAT.

I can confirm that NAT routing does work fairly well for UDP internet gaming, as long as NAT is setup correctly for UDP.
