Siemens-Pyramid Party

We (Siemens-Pyramid, end of 1997) celebrated the release of Oracle 8.0.3 (32bit) for Reliant Unix, Siemens-Nixdorf's (SysV-style) Unix variant on Mips-processors (Silicon Graphics). We were at the 'Magic Egde Center' or something like that. They claimed to have virtual reality flight simulators, and 12 of us could fly against computer generated targets and each other. It was no VR at all, though, just ordinary flight simulation on a fuzzy screen (mine went out for three minutes and I was left sitting in the dark of my cabin, just hearing the sounds of the shooting around me and unable to see anything).

We all received a sweat shirt, see the picture. That was a good idea because I had mostly brought T-shirts from Germany, and we're in the colder season of the year right now.

BTW, I'm on the very left, behind the guy who's only half visible.

The only reason I made a page for this event is that I have a picture, otherwise I wouldn't have bothered. Meanwhile (I'm writing this very sentence at the end of April 98) I have released Oracle 7.3.4.1 for Siemens-Nixdorf RM200/400/600/600E on ReliantUnix 5.42 and above. I ported this .1-patchset all alone, what an achievement ;-)
